ABOUT ARTISTRY AGG
Artistry AGG is currently Queensland's only official Club.
Artistry AGG is officially registered with the
Australian Aesthetic Group Gymnastics Federation (AAGGF).
Aesthetic Group Gymnastics (AGG) is a discipline of gymnastics developed from Finnish "Women's Gymnastics". The discipline is reminiscent of Rhythmic Gymnastics, but there are some significant differences: in AGG, the emphasis is on big and continuous body movement and the teams are larger and gymnasts compete in groups. AGG teams often consist of 6-10 gymnasts, and some children’s teams are even bigger. The sport requires physical qualities such as flexibility, balance, speed, strength, coordination and sense of rhythm where movements of the body are emphasised in the flow, expressive and aesthetic appeal. A good performance is characterised by uniformity and simultaneity. The competition program consists of versatile and varied body movements, such as body waves and swings, balances and pivots, jumps and leaps, dance steps, and lifts. Teamwork and unity are essential as is a sense of combined artistry and grace. AGG Training focuses on the physical development of flexibility, co-ordination, strength, skill acquirement, agility and artistry.
